Soul
Harvest Worship Center’s Statement of Faith
·
We believe the Bible to be
given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, infallible, and God’s revealed word to
man.
·
We believe that Scripture
teaches that there is only one true and living God who has chosen to reveal
Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10, 11:
Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22.)
·
We believe in the virgin
birth of Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God and the son of man, that He came to
save man from condemnation of sin by offering His blood as an atonement and
making it available to all who exercise faith in Him (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31,
35; John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
·
We believe that all
mankind is subject to the death of the body as a result of original sin. The
soul and spirit do not die, but immediately after death enter into a conscious
state of happiness or misery according to the character here possessed by
rejection or acceptance of the Savior, Jesus Christ. (Ecclesiastes 12:7; Romans
5:12; Philippians 1:23.)
·
We believe that salvation
of man's soul is given by the grace of God, through the preaching of repentance
toward God and through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8-9). By
confessing sin (repenting), believing in your heart, and confessing with your
mouth that Jesus died, was buried and rose from the grave, man will be saved.
(Roman 10:8-13)
·
We believe the inward
evidence of salvation to the believer is the direct witness of the Holy Spirit
(Romans 8:16). The outward evidence to all men is a life of holiness (1 Thess.
4:7, 2 Tim. 1:9).
·
We believe in the bodily
resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved to everlasting life and
the lost without Christ to everlasting damnation in the lake of fire (Hell)
(Matthew 24:31-46; Acts 24:15; Revelation 22:11.)
·
We believe the command of water
baptism by burial (immersion) with Christ should be observed by all that have
repented of their sins and in their hearts have believed on Christ as their
Savior and Lord. In doing so, they declare to the world that they have died
with Christ and that they have also been released to walk with Him in newness
of life (Matt. 28:19, Acts 19:47, 48; Ro. 6:4).
·
We believe the Lords
Supper (communion), consisting of the elements, bread and fruit of the vine, is
the symbol of expressing our sharing in a memorial to His suffering and death,
and prophecy of His second coming, and is enjoined to all believers ;until He
comes; and we practice it monthly. (John 6:48,51,53-57; Luke 22:19,20; 2 Pet.
1:4; 1 Cor. 11:25).
·
We believe the church is
the holy body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine
appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer is an
integral part of the Church, and their names are written in the Lambs Book of
Life. She has been divinely called and ordained for a two-fold purpose: (1) The
evangelization of the world, and (2) The edification of the body of Christ
(Mark 15:15,20; Eph. 4:11-13)
·
We believe every person
who has received salvation by faith in Jesus Christ should be a member of their
local church. They should attend faithfully, and support the ministry
financially, and through prayer. Every member should serve in their area of
giftedness so that the Kingdom of God is advanced. They should strive to keep
the unity of the church by acting in love toward others, refusing to gossip,
and submitting to the authority of their Pastors. (Heb 10:25, Lev. 27:30,
Rom.15:5, 15:7, 15:19, 1 Peter 1:22, 4:10, Eph. 4:11,12,29, Heb. 13:17, 1
Thess. 1:2, Luke 14:23, Phil 4:2:3-4,7
·
We believe the Scriptures
ascribe to the Holy Spirit the acts and attributes of an intelligent being, and
that the works of God such as creation, inspiration, giving of life, and
sanctification are also ascribed to the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2; Job 33:4;
Mark 3:29; John 16:8, 13; Acts 7:51, 10:19, 13:2, 13:4, 16:6; 1 Corinthians
2:11, 6:11, 12; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Peter 3:18; 2 Peter 1:21.)
·
We believe in the
sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is
enabled to live a holy life (Romans 8:5; Philippians 2:12, 12; 1 Thessalonians 4:3;
1 John 2:29.)
·
We believe that the
baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to believers who ask for it (Joel 2:28;
Acts 2:4.) This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of
the New Birth (Acts 2:38; 10:44-46; 11:14-26; 15:7-9) and is evidenced by
speaking in tongues (heavenly prayer language), which is for the believers
personal edification (1 Cor. 14:2-4).
·
We believe the gift of
tongues is a spiritual gift given to some believers when they are baptized in
the Holy Spirit . The primary use of the gift of tongues is for it to be
interpreted, for the edification of the Church (1 Cor. 12:10, 12:28, 1 Cor.
14:12-13).
·
We believe in the
personal, imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11; 1
Thessalonians 4:13-18.)
·
We believe the redemptive
work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to
believing prayer (Isaiah 53:4, 5; James 5:14, 15; 1 Peter 2:24.)
