PRETTY IS AS PRETTY DOES

Good Morning My Loves, I was in prayer this morning and the old saying "Pretty is as pretty does," popped in my head, It basically means that the way you treat people is more important than the way you look. There are many people that “appear” to be pretty and loving. They look pretty, talk pretty, but they don’t behave pretty. Their behavior defies their confession. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe it’s very important how you look as a leader. Looking like a leader is a choice. How you present yourself is very important. You can look like a slob if you choose to, and quite frankly no one will take you serious. It’s a known fact that your image is the sum total of how people see you, and how you come across to them. The impression you leave on people, will “initially” be determined by personal hygiene-grooming, etiquette, and attitude. Some people think that it’s too expensive to have a professional image, however it’s more about good taste and good sense than it is about how much you spend. So, appearance is very important, however it’s NOT everything. One of the quickest ways to spot a “fake” leader is by this #1 ugly behavior - - THEY EXPECT TO BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION, AND TO BE WAITED ON. I’ve seen my fair share of this as a pastor. These are the pretty folks that always want the spot-light, but they show up 10 min late for events to ensure that the work is done for them when they arrive, and they leave early to ensure that it’s cleaned up by everyone after they leave. I’ve learned to choose my leaders by who is willing to serve long after the others have gone home. These are the givers, the others are the takers. One day Jesus was approached by the mother of James and John, and she wanted Him to appoint her sons to positions of honor and authority. Jesus basically tells her that unless her precious boys were willing to “suffer and serve” they would not be fit for leadership in the Kingdom. (Matthew 20:20-28) Jesus addressed his pre-requisites for leadership in the Kingdom, and He didn’t make one mention of physical beauty: Matthew 20:26-28 (AMP)

26 It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, 27 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your [willing and humble] slave; 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [paying the price to set them free from the penalty of sin].” My beloved, God is still promoting those who are willing to suffer and serve. It’s important to look like we represent the King of kings and Lord of lords, but the prettiest among us are the ones that are willing to suffer and serve, and do what needs to be done, not just look pretty. Pretty is as pretty does! I love you all! PV
